Cycling essentials in Amsterdam: pumps, water and practical stops

Amsterdam is easy to cross by bicycle, which also means a small problem can happen far from where you started. Amsterdam On The Go groups a few useful layers that can help when you are already on the road.

Bike pumps

The Bike pumps layer includes public or community-added pump locations when available. A marker tells you where a pump has been mapped; it does not guarantee that equipment is currently working. If valve information is known, it can help you decide whether the stop is useful before you detour.

Drinking water

Adding the Drinking water layer is useful on longer rides or warm days. Public taps can be seasonal or temporarily unavailable, so check the fixture itself before depending on it. Carrying a refillable bottle gives you more flexibility than planning your route around a single tap.

Toilets and ATMs

These are optional layers, but they can save time when you are already moving between neighbourhoods. Turn them on only when relevant so bicycle-related markers remain easy to see.

Report broken information

A public pump can disappear or break. If a point is clearly outdated, send a correction rather than assuming every mapped location has the same problem. The value of a community utility improves when incorrect points are removed as well as when new ones are added.
